Dustin Angell our tour guide and Education Director at Archbold will meet us with the buggy at the offices. From Possum Long the drive is 1hr 42 minutes.

Time: 9am-12pm

What to Bring: Binoculars, Water, Lunch, and Sunscreen

Description of Tour: Climb aboard a swamp buggy for a tour of a Florida cattle ranch and ecology research center. The MacArthur Agro-ecology Research Center at Buck Island Ranch, run by Archbold since 1988, is a 10.5 thousand acre cow-calf operation with 3,000 head of cattle. Visitors learn about the ranch's mission of ecological economic, and cultural sustainability while driving through miles of pasture, prairie, and hammock. Visitors often see alligators, caracara, red-shouldered hawks, feral hogs, and deer. Buck Island Ranch is about 20 minute drive east of Archbold Biological Station. The Ranch is only open to visitors with scheduled tours.

After our swamp buggy tour, you are welcome to go and visit the Education Center at Archbold Biological Station down the street as well as the trail!

The trip is limited to 16 people so sign up today!
