Field Trip - Birding at Jonathan Dickinson State Park

Conservationist Jim Howe will be conducting a special tour in Jonathan Dickinson State Park highlighting the avian residents such as the Bald Eagle and Florida Scrub Jay. Jim will espouse upon the uniqueness of the Florida scrub ecosystem itself, how fire is essential, pointing out gopher tortoise burrows, and unique plants found only in the park.
 
Jim is a retired mechanical design engineer and Florida Master Naturalist, who now concentrates on citizen science, endangered species, and other eco-related volunteer efforts. He has logged over a thousand hours in the state parks, working with both Florida Scrub Jays and Sea Turtles.
 
Meeting Location:
After coming in the main gate, guests should turn left towards the Pine Grove campground, then park in the small lot in about 100 feet on the right.
