Young Audubon

Audubon of Martin County welcomes members and their families to participate in our many Young Audubon activities. The “My Favorite Bird” Essay and Art Contest held annually is open to students from Martin County schools for a chance to be rewarded with great prizes and an awards luncheon. Our Children's Birding and Habitat Workshop, held annually in early November, invites children of all ages to experience building bird houses, learning about birds and participating in nature hikes. Young volunteers are also invited to participate in the Great Backyard Bird Count whether counting in their own backyards or at Possum Long Nature Center with our volunteer guides.

"My Favorite Bird" Essay, Art, and Photo Contest

Audubon of Martin County welcomes members and their families to participate in our many Young Audubon activities. The "My Favorite Bird" Essay, Art and Photo Contest held annually is open to all students in Martin County, including public, private and home-schooled students. The Essay and Art Contest is open to Grades 3, 4, and 5 Elementary Students. The new Photo Contest is open to all Middle and High School Students. Winners are ranked within each school and grade. Children are rewarded with great prizes and an Awards Ceremony with BBQ in April. Every year the judges report that choosing winners is a very difficult task as the essays are interesting with excellent topics and the art work is creative.  Martin County has many talented children! This year will be our first for the Photo Contest headed up by John Nelson, President.
